Here's an interesting question: Would you let a surgeon with no experience perform an operation on you? Of course you wouldn't. Medical reports are a very important part of the healthcare industry. People who receive training for transcription jobs are more likely to take pride in their work, and also receive more recognition for a job well-done. Not to mention, people who get transcriptionist training also have a better chance of actually getting a job making an excellent medical transcription salary.
Pay raises come a lot faster when you've gotten training.
Those who choose not to get training and start working for companies that do not require it end up making a lot less than people who have been certified.
Moving up the pay scale in transcription jobs is also much more difficult without a diploma or certificate - it's literally like you can't get a raise! Employers pay attention to how much experience potential employees have, and they make their decisions whether or not to hire or give promotions based on that fact.
A medical transcriptionist needs to finish an online or in-classroom medical transcriptionist program before trying to find a job. Those who are planning on contracting their services independently also need to complete a training program.
There are a lot of medical terms to become familiar with that are not normally used everyday.
Most of the terms you will learn during training you've probably never heard of before.
There are also plenty of specialties and report formats to become familiar with.
Knowing how to dictate reports will be very useful upon starting your first transcription job.
As you become gain experience, your skill will begin to come naturally and your speed will increase drastically. Working transcription jobs with no training can slow you down and make it impossible for you to make progress.
It's a known fact that people who do not know how to perform their jobs always end up getting fired or let go in some way.
Receiving quality training is an effective way to familiarize you with what you will be dealing with everyday.
If your plans are to work from home, your transcriptionist training can help to prepare you to schedule your day.
It provides a taste of what life will be like once you start work.
Like many other jobs, medical transcription skill is not something that you can learn as you go, it is something that has to be taught specifically by a training facility.
You won't have to look very hard for employment after getting your training either.
Most training programs assist you with job placement, so it is almost like you're guaranteed a job upon signing up for your program.
People who train for transcription jobs will perform much better than those who do not.
Earning a higher rate comes easy to those who are certified because companies and clients actually want to pay more for a higher quality of work. It's the hard work that pays off for transcriptionists and ultimately takes them to heights that are otherwise unattainable without an education.

How To Get an Online Degree Without Spending a Fortune
Online degree programs are becoming much more popular and as a result many more students are choosing this option over more traditional classroom settings.
And as new classes are added, even more students are getting online degrees.
If you do go for the online option, you will have to decide how to pay for it. If you don't have the necessary funds then you will want to consider taking out loans.
But you have to find the right loan so that you don't end up over your head in debt.
Not everyone enjoys online classes but on the other hand some people will never go back to the more traditional classroom setting.
If you want to attend live classes then an online degree is not for you. If you want flexibility then it could be the right option. So first figure out if online courses are an option for you.
If you think you can do well with them then you have to apply.
But you first should gather all of the information you need to make the decision.
All of the information can be found online. But the key is to know where to look when you are trying to decide on a program.
After you have decided on an online program, you will have to decide on a university that you can get your degree from.
There are many options and you have to know which one to decide on.
It is very important that you have all of the information you need to make the right choice.
Deciding on an online school and major are the first steps.
Then you will need to figure out how to pay for everything.
If you can't pay on your own then loans are the way to go. But before you can take out a loan you need to find the right information and if you look online you can find the best places to go.
So the first step is to look around and find the right information. Choose the right university and loan after you have all of the information.
You can then apply knowing you've put in your work.

Algebra For Kids
The word "algebra" derives from the Arabic al-jabr meaning "the reunion of broken parts." Algebraic concepts were used as early as 1650 B.C.
in Egypt and Ancient Babylon, and were brought into Europe by the Arabs. And now, thousands of years later, judging by the mail in my inbox, it is a subject that many students need help with.
Learn more at the following sites. Algebra 1: Graphing Linear Equations There is a lot of interactive material buried within this Java-enhanced site.
Across the top of your window, you'll easily find the graph-your-own-functions plotter and the algebraic calculator. But down the left-hand side are lots of goodies hidden from sight until you move your mouse over the menu buttons. For example, under "Assess" you'll find quizzes, tests and a not-to-missed project graphing voter turnout in the most recent presidential election.
Click on "Help Desk" for the bulletin board, algebra chat room, and complete algebraic glossary. Actual algebra lessons can be found under "Topics".
Algebra - Fun with Calendars Want to amaze your friends and family? Start with a monthly calendar and a volunteer from the audience.
Ask your volunteer to pick 4 days that form a square such as March 17, 18, 24 and 25.
Your volunteer should tell you only the sum of the four days (for example 84), and you'll be able to tell her which four days she picked. How is it done? With algebra, of course! Girls to the Fourth Power: Algebra Program What a scream! Meet Gwynn and Alison, two sisters doing the mall "California style" each trying to outspend the other.
How much do they have to spend? Well, Gwen got a $50 present from her uncle, and managed to borrow $20 from Dad.
Alison squeezed a birthday advance out of Mom.
Then Dad went on a business trip and bought Gwynn a really nice present, but only bought Alison a crummy teddy bear.
How are they ever going to figure it all out? It's Al-Jabra to the rescue!

How Do I Apply For an Online MBA Program?
It is indeed great news to working people that they are able to obtain an MBA degree by learning using internet.
There are more and more universities offering online courses and allowing students to study and gain their MBA degrees through online study where the courses are well accredited and equivalent to those traditional MBA courses.
What you need to do is to get yourself ready to study online. There are internal and external aspects you need to consider. The internal aspects include your personal goal, personal financial status, current job, time management and self disciplined.
The external aspects are universities, courses and certification.
Once you manage to get hold on all these, what you need is to start applying for the course.
Shortlist a few universities or business schools that you think is suitable for you.
Get the required application forms and fill them up.
All the application forms are available online which you can obtain from the universities or schools' websites.
Download and make sure all the details are filled up carefully.
Attach the relevant supporting documents and certificates.
Before you attach, make sure your academic qualification or working experience fulfills the basic entry requirements of the universities or business schools.
The rational of attaching your certificates is to assist you from getting some papers exempted from a few related subjects.
It will directly help you to shorten the duration of completing the whole course.
Besides that, you may need to attach referral letter from current or ex-employers to prove your experience in working. You may also attach the certificates for attending related training, if any. On the other hand, you need to check with the universities or business schools whether there is any examination or interview to be attended before the admission to the related course. If there is an examination, make sure you have sufficient time to prepare for it.
Then, after completing all these, it is time for you to wait for offer letter!

Replacing The Real World With An Online One
It seems like practically everyone lives online nowadays.
So many people only visit life and live online.
The online community is only growing bigger and bigger every day.
I recently watched a commercial talking about the importance of keeping a close eye on your children.
People think that because they are in their rooms that they are safe, but the truth is if they have access to the internet, they can meet more people in five minutes than you probably have met in your entire lifetime.
We live in a world of a million plus myspace friends and video blogs and online chat rooms, blogs and journals.
Everyone puts their business all over the web, some in hopes of someday becoming famous.
Some in hopes of someday making more friends. And others still just looking to talk to anyone who is willing to listen. That is why it is that much more important to spend time with your kids.
Good quality time, not just time in front of the tv.
Now, don't get me wrong I enjoy kicking back with the kids and watching all the best prime time television shows, but it is about so much more than that.
You can have some time just veggin and hanging out. But there also has to be time spent building, training and developing your kids into responsible adults.
Life is not just about who you are and what you will be.
It is about what you have done and where you came from. I have recently adopted a new motto, "You can't buy memories." That is how I now look at life. I am not just raising my kids, I am building memories, and the substance and nature of those memories is up to me.
Will I build in them memories they will never forget, or memories that they wish they could forget. Think back to your child hood and remember playing outside with friends.
Leaving in the morning when the sun cam up and coming home when the streetlights went out for dinner. We don't live in that world anymore, the streets are a dangerous place for kids to be no matter what neighborhood you live in.
So parents feel secure with their kids in their rooms talking to their friends on the internet rather than standing out on the corner.
It's okay to let them have an online experience and friendships, but monitor them closely and remember nothing can replace the real thing.

Tips on Setting Up a General Knowledge Quiz
General knowledge quizzes are one of the most important parts of a pub quiz often being three rounds of the overall thing.
They can be set general knowledge in a spectrum of subjects, area or even a specific object, person or Film.
Often mistakes are made by putting too many specialist subjects into the quizzes making them difficult for the majority of the event goers and putting them off. Here are tips on how to avoid common mistakes that will help you time and time again to set up your general knowledge quizzes 1 Work out how many questions, rounds there are going to be in your general knowledge quizzes.
Each Round will take about 10 minutes. If you're only doing general knowledge for the entire quiz then keep it at about 50 questions maximum. You can always add a handout round for them to puzzle over as the questions are being read out.
2 Work out the subject(s) and how many of them there will be. Standard general knowledge can include questions on Art, literature, music, science, geography, TV, film, nature and so on.
Some more specialist rounds such as a film general knowledge quiz would be geared around characters, places, animals, posters on walls all relevant to that topic. 3 Once you've worked out the subjects firstly divide the total amount of questions for the quiz by the amount of rounds you want in the Quiz.
This will now give you the chance to see where you will want to put breaks for marking and how you will choose the Quiz questions subjects.
4 Now go searching for potential questions in websites, dictionaries, encyclopedias, annuals and so forth.
Most of these sources have websites.
If it is a general knowledge quiz on Harry Potter for example there is a masses of web sites out there on the stories and films.
Make sure you are confident in the question and answers. But also make sure that you do not ask your contestants to answer lots of questions on a subject they are unlikely to know about as this will lose their interest. 5 Pick questions of different complexity and make sure they are not too difficult or easy otherwise people will get bored, disruptive and generally the quiz can become chaos. Simple thing here is to go for easy, medium and difficult complexities and circle through them. So in your general knowledge quiz you have 6 questions of a given topic you should have 2 easy, 2 medium and 2 hard answers. 6 Verify your questions and answers every time.
Make sure once you have your question that you check the answers. This sounds obvious but many fail by not verifying their quiz questions and answers relying on the first source they come to. Relying upon one source unless you are 100% confident in the answer is bad practice make sure you check your answer each and every time. Once you have followed these steps then you will be well on your way to compiling good varied general knowledge quizzes tailored to the interests of your audience. A good start to achieving success.

Limiting Open Source
Once an unrestricted forum for harnessing the creativity and inventiveness of software developers worldwide, open source technology has started to become entangled in concerns over licensing, intellectual property laws, and perhaps unsurprisingly, taste. The innovative nature of open source has made it a valuable resource for major companies. However, these same companies, including Apple Computer and Google, have begun to place caps on what can and can't be developed on their platforms through outright rejection or licensing agreements.
The limits of open source have begun to acquire definition; however, without these limits, it is arguable that open source development would not thrive without the support made possible by international platforms.
Apple has received a tremendous amount of press for its decisions to limit content displayed through the open source 'apps' developed for its iPhone and other display devices.
Of course, Apple has a long history of exacting tight control over both its software and hardware; open source developers have always had to submit to Apple's thorough regulations and licensing agreements.
Now that Apple has become such a significant distributor of content, any rejection or alteration has international repercussions.
Both the apps developed to display the graphically illustrated version of James Joyce's "Ulysses" and the works of political and Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Mark Fiore were either subject to edits or complete rejection by Apple. In the case of "Ulysses," the authors of the graphic adaptation agreed to delete the offending panels, which tended to feature nudity or other sexual content that subjected the book to an obscenity trial in 1933. The judge ruled that the book was not obscene, making Apple's decision to limit the display one based more on matters of taste as opposed to legality. After Mark Fiore won the Pulitzer for his work, Apple encouraged him to resubmit his previously rejected app. His app was approved, and his cartoons are now available through the iPhone without edits. Google's development project Android invites both individual and corporate developers to contribute to their platform as long as they first complete an intellectual property licensing agreement. These agreements specifically delineate the use of the open source code or applications generated by the developer in relationship to the larger platform, and allow the developer to use the technology for other purposes outside of Android. The mission of Android, as stated on its website, is to prevent any one company or source from controlling what content is displayed to users on mobile devices.
Although Android has on the surface a far more open policy toward open source development than Apple does, the test is how open Android will remain; will it eventually become another Apple, or will it uphold its open-ended spirit?

Picking the Right Webinar Platform
We already discussed the advantages of a webinar and some ideas on how to make sure your webinar is successful.
It has also been mentioned that the host of a webinar should research the available webinar tools before starting work. Today we're going to have a look at four such platforms: Livestream, Webex, Live Meeting and Go To Webinar. Livestream is accessible to anyone who wants to broadcast an interactive live video, for free. They take pride in their zero tolerance on piracy policy, as they proactively prevent copyright infringement and are not interested in growing artificially, from illegal content.
Their famous partners include Facebook, The Academy Awards, Nike, The New York Times, ABC, CBS and Burger King.
Founded in 2008, the platform is available for free, with ad-support. For businesses, the premium subscriptions go as high as $12,500/year. The way the viewers see a certain video can be customized - this is quite important for businesses, who can personalize the graphics and player with their own logo and corporate identity. TV broadcasts can easily be incorporated, while the infrastructure and human costs of traditional broadcasting operations are eliminated or significantly reduced.
There are options to create a private channel, with no ads, for internal use and communication. The matter of location becomes irrelevant, as communication can be extended worldwide.
Cisco Webex offers high quality video transmission, phone conferencing and desktop sharing, so that everyone can see the same thing while conversing. The requirements are a computer or device that is connected to the Internet (e.g. smartphone), an audio connection and the optional webcam. They mention the advantages of saving money and time from traveling, easy collaboration with partners from the other side of the world, eliminating the need for long emails and follow-up phone calls, as well as an overall increase in productivity.
Webex can be used to hold a press conference or demonstrate a product, conduct online training or make a sales presentation, provide support on a matter or work collaboratively.
The tool is free to use for 14 days, after which you can purchase it for $49/month.
Live Meeting is part of the Microsoft Office suite and it offers web client support, desktop sharing as well as whiteboard tools, multi-party video, rich media presentations, high fidelity recording and web-cam characteristics.
Although part of such a big name like Microsoft, this tool gets a bit lost among other options.
Not very much information is offered about it online, which may prevent customers from choosing it over another tool.
Go To Webinar comes with a 30 days free trial, which is excellent if you're trying to decide which software to use.
The webinars supported by them can include up to 1,000 participants from around the world.
Setting up a webinar only takes minutes and it doesn't require IT knowledge. You set up the webinar with a few intuitive steps, and it automatically creates your invitation and registration. You can invite people to register and they can do so in the customized form.
Automatic reminders will be sent on their email before the event.
The platform is easy-to-use and appealing for both the host and the participants.
The costs of Go To Webinar per year start from $948.
Researching your platform might take a while, especially if you are willing to try more demos.
However, picking the wrong tool might be even more time consuming to recover from.
Overall, it is better to invest time at the beginning rather than to waste time during the process.

Your Business Can Take Advantage Of The Facebook Fanpage
Yes, Facebook is fun. It is a great way to stay in touch with friends and family and reconnect with old buddies. But that is not all.
Your business can greatly benefit from Facebook too. The popular social network site has become one of the most prominent tools for marketing a business.
This is why almost every business today has a Facebook fanpage.
But how does a fanpage work? A fanpage makes your presence felt in the most popular social network in the world. Exam Nerves - Things You Can Do When Your Mind Goes Blank to Reduce Exam Stress
We have all experienced that 'mind goes blank' feeling at sometime or other.
Perhaps it has happened when you have gone for an interview or had to speak to a group and the most common reason is when faced with an exam or test of any kind.
This anxiety that causes your mind to go blank is linked to a fear of failure. In many cultures fear of failure is linked very closely with failing an exam. So much exam stress is placed on young people nowadays, from early SATS tests to national exams at GCSE and above. Adults are not immune from this level of exam stress as they too face anxiety of this type as their career develops and more qualifications are required.
Life long learning has a lot to answer for! This is what I would recommend if you find yourself with that 'mind goes blank' situation: Take a deep breath in Release the breath slowly Read the question on the exam paper again Look for key words that the examiner has used Write these words and phrases on a blank sheet of paper Add to the sheet all the other words and phrases that come to mind No need to answer the question yet Let your mind wander and add more ideas Now re-read the question Begin to write your answer.
Use the words and phrases you have noted to get you started.
Once you begin to write you will surprise yourself on how much more information comes to mind. Why does this work? Often when we feel exam stress and anxiety it is because we notice other people in the room writing and generally looking as if they know what they are doing.
This may or may not be true.
However, once we start to write things down ourselves we can begin to get the 'flow' going. By writing key words and phrases and linking them with others that come into our minds we have begun the answering process.
Sometimes it is just getting started that is the hardest thing.
Remember that the examiner is trying to help you.
When an examiner sets a question he is trying to help you by asking you to answer the question.
When you answer the question, you are showing your knowledge and skills connected with the subject. This is what an exam is all about - an opportunity to show off your skills and knowledge.
Use the clues and key words he is giving you and your exam stress and anxiety levels will reduce leaving you to think more clearly.
Other ways to help clear a blank mind Use visualisation to clear your mind. Perhaps you see a thick fog when you are suffering from exam stress.
By lifting this fog in your imagination you will reduce your exam anxiety and so be able to see the answers so much more clearly.
There are so many ways in which you can picture a clear mind or get into the 'flow' in order to achieve exam success.
Let fear of failure and exam nerves be a thing of the past.
Explore new ways of reducing exam stress - your school teacher is unlikely to do this with you. Good luck

Four Ways to Boost Your Computer Speed
Using a computer with slow performance is often quite annoying, if not frustrating. We all want a computer with blazing speed to save time and efforts. However, as time goes by, it becomes inevitable for computers to experience problems and to gradually run slower and slower.
There are many ways that you can solve this problem, although you might already know most of these ways.
If you're not the techie type, it can be useful to learn more ways on how to increase computer speed.
Here are some useful tips which can refresh your knowledge and give you more ideas.
1) Do a disk cleanup periodically.
- As you may know, most of your activities, such as browsing the net, downloading and opening attachments, and deleting files, are recorded in your computer.
Gradually, you'll be consuming much space causing a considerable decrease in computer speed.
You have to remove those files which are no longer useful by using Disk Cleanup which is a Windows utility.
Performing a disc cleanup regularly is certainly helpful in keeping your computer fast and in good condition. 2) Defragment your pc.
- Defragmenting the hard drive involves placing files back to their proper places so that the computer can run smoothly and efficiently. It's actually not that difficult to do by yourself and doesn't require the assistance of a professional computer technician.
However, if you feel that you're not sure on how to do it you can seek help from experts. Defragmenting takes some time so it's important to plan ahead. 3) Delete All Spyware and Adware.
- Spyware and Adware can be very troublesome.
Once you have these, you will encounter plenty of unusual occurrences in your computer such as frequent popups, altered homepage, etc.
You can get spyware and adware from downloaded files that are very tricky.
Sometimes, we can't avoid these programs.
To remove unwanted files like these from your computer, you can use free spyware and adware programs.
You must remove these things as soon as you discover them to avoid harmful effects and damages. 4) Uninstall Unnecessary Programs. - This is quite helpful in boosting your computer's speed. However, you must do it with the utmost precision and caution to avoid removing the wrong files as it can lead to serious issues.
Seek assistance from an expert friend or anybody who can help you do these things. If you're fond of downloading free programs, these pile up and slow down the computer hence, you must remove those which you don't need nor use anymore.
Avoid removing programs which you're not sure if they should be uninstalled or not. Alternatively, you can use an uninstall software to safely remove unused programs in your computer.

Weaning Is Winning
The process of teaching your child to feed from something other than the bottle is called weaning.
Studies show that children being bottle fed longer are more likely to suffer from tooth decays.
As parents, we don't want that to happen.
So, it is important to not allow your child to be bottle fed in a long period of time.
Parents need to decide when they will wean their child. Parents should remember you're your child can get more nutrients in solids than in bottle feeding.
Most importantly, children who stay in bottle feeding longer may have difficulties in maintaining right feeding skills.
Weaning from bottle feeding is not done abruptly.
It has to be done gradually.
Most of the time, it is easier said than done.
Once parents decide to wean your baby from bottle feeding, the most essential part of the whole process is consistency.
So, when is your child ready for weaning? In my own experience, I have started weaning my daughter when she was eight months old.
I let her try drinking milk from a cup at eight months and she was totally weaned from bottle feeding around one and a half years old.
My partner and I decided that it was time to wean our daughter when she was starting to sit on her own. In weaning, make sure that your child is not in a bad mood. Start substituting the bottle with a sippy cup at one feeding during the day. Choose a feeding time when your child usually drinks just a little amount of milk, rather than a major mealtime. Always remember that routine is the key to success. Slowly introduce the cup at another feeding time, gradually decreasing the number of bottles the child receives. Do not forget to be patient all the time.
Help your child in holding the cup properly and assist him/her in drinking.
Choosing the right cup for weaning is very important.
You should choose a cup that is non-drip and can be easily gripped by your child.
Choose a cup that can also be used as a feeding bottle.
And of course, it should be BPA free. I have always used the Drinky cup from Chicco and I can highly recommend it to all mothers who plan to start weaning their child from bottle feeding.
You might be asking what you can do to make weaning easier on your baby.
I suggest that during the process of weaning, offer your child other comforts such as a soft blanket or his/her favorite stuffed animal or play soothing music to relax him/her.
Try spending extra time cuddling with your child during the weaning process.
You can also buy cups with colorful handles and beautiful cup designs to amaze your little one.
And lastly, be a positive role model and drink from a cup with your child.

Geometry Can Be a Challenge, But it Can Be Easy to Improve
Many students struggle with geometry since it is different in many ways than what they are used to learning so far in school.
Most students have not been taught how to think "geometrically".
In other words, they may not be able to see the abstract nature that is used in geometry.
According to Jean Piaget's theory about cognitive development, many students many not have the abilities to think cognitively until their late teens, or possibly early 20's. All of this makes geometry challenging to students, but not impossible.
The following are a few steps that will help make geometry easier.
Notes are very important in all classes, including math.
Note taking should not only include the notes given by the teacher, but also examples that the students can follow when doing homework and studying for tests.
The examples should include one or two different problems that represent various methods of solving a concept.
A useful way for taking notes is the Cornell Notes method.
It is easy to set up in any notebook or binder and allows room for additional notes, ideas and revelations that may came up.
Going along with the notes, index cards are very useful.
The majority of textbooks highlight in one form or another the key concepts for each chapter.
By rewriting these important bits of info on the cards, it will help your student in two ways.
The more often they write a concept and there by think about it, the more likely it will stay with them.
Also, the important pieces that need to be reviewed for a test are now in one easy to flip through location. I would suggestion using a note card ring, and writing the note cards out during the chapter, not at the end when your student is trying to cram everything in to one major study session. Use the book that was given.
Math books are not the easiest to read.
Today the publishers try to include real world examples and relevant and possibly interesting problems. Yet it does not make it any more interesting if the subject is dreaded. It may be hard to convince your student that reading the book will help, but it does.
When reading it, they will often times have an "ah-ha" moment because the book explains things differently than the teacher.
Not only reading along in the book is helpful, reworking the problems and comparing the student's answers to the ones in the book will also allow them to find the steps that they are either missing or having a problem with. Homework is everyone's challenge. As parents it can be frustrating to get our children to do the work when they are struggling, and it is just as frustrating for the child.
However, we need to keep in mind that homework does serve a purpose.
It allows the student to practice what they learned, and if there are problems it is a method for the teacher to determine where the problems lie.
So attempting to do the homework, no matter how hard it is makes a big difference.
The student needs to put out an effort to do what they can, the best that they can.
Often times teachers check homework for the effort, not correctness.
This is very important when homework is a percentage of your child's grade.
Last but definitely not least, ask the teacher when something is confusing. I constantly tell my students that they need to speak up if they are not getting a concept.
"I am also a Mom with eyes on the back of my head, but I still can't read minds". Teachers are more than happy to answer questions, or go over an example again when there is a problem. Unfortunately, when students do not say that they are not understanding something, we tend to assume that everyone gets it. So speak up! The more questions asked, the happier we are as teachers.
Also most teachers are more than happy to spend extra time with students at some point during the day if they need help.
The student usually just needs to ask.
These are some basics that will help not only in geometry, but in any math class.
One last thing to keep in mind, neatness does count! When grading a test, if a teacher needs to decipher the work, the less likely the student is to get partial credit.

How to Prevent Your Kids From Lying
You received a call from school, informing you that your child hadn't arrived at school.
You became frantic the entire day when suddenly your kid come barging in. You asked him where he had been, and he flatly said he was in school.
Isn't that hurtful and frustrating? No parent would want their child to like, more so straight to his or her face. But how do you exactly deal with that? The following may be helpful: 1.
Know the reason for the lying.
There are plenty of reasons why children lie.
It's either they are afraid of the consequences or you tolerate them (you allowed them to come up with stories and accept them as truths).
Get to the bottom of the lying and see if it's something you can correct immediately. Once you eliminate the reason, you may be able to get rid of the lies. 2.
Create and enforce rules.
If you don't want to be lied to, then you need to develop certain rules and penalties.
But the real struggle of parents isn't really creating the laws but enforcing them.
Children know how to touch their parents' soft spots.
Before you know it, you're giving in to their requests.
It's time to be very firm if you want to implement a change. If you mean no TV for the entire week, then there should be none for seven days.
Needless to say, ensure that your children understand the reason for the punishment. This way they wouldn't think they've been penalized for no reason.
Further, be careful with the penalties you gave.
You don't want those that can physically, emotionally, and psychologically hurt the child.
3. Teach them while they're young. If you don't want your children to lie when they grow up you should teach them how to be honest when they're still young.
The young ones are much easier to train since they can absorb every lesson you gave them. 4.
Be a good example. You can never preach about honesty if you yourself lie.
That's why if you say you're going to pick them up from school, you should strive hard to do it.
Never lie to your family members or to your friends.
Most of all, never catch yourself lying in front of your children. 5.
Don't judge the person but the action. Do you know that people learn to live up to their labels? If you call someone a thief, then there's a huge chance he's going to believe that and start stealing.
If you tell your child he's a liar, he might as well continue with it, because you already believe in it. 6.
Keep yourself sane with affirmations. Parents with lying children would often question themselves, "Did I do something wrong?" It's easy for you to put the blame on yourself when there are other factors that would have caused it, including the influence of his or her peers. If you need to get back on track in disciplining your children, you can use subliminal messages: I don't judge my child but his wrongdoing.
I forgive what he's done but won't tolerate his action. I can definitely help change his behavior.

Cause And Effect - Why I Made My Son Lick His Brother's Feet
Today I made my son lick his brother's feet.
If you're wondering what madness has taken hold of me, well I'll explain.
I discovered many years ago that if I could use the distraction method combined with cause and effect, it brought laughter to the situation, but also still acknowledging that the behaviour was unacceptable and the punishment was fitting (generally). As I am the mother of four kids I have had many years to learn some tricks.
My boys aged 9 and 11 had been running around having fun until Ash upset Sabian by taking some of the money they had been jointly saving for iPads. Ash, the 9 year old, ran off with Sabian in hot pursuit, armed with a rubber snake.
Ash, finally cornered, was then 'branded' on his thigh with the whip of the rubber snake. Ash came running to me, tears steaming down his little face.
An angry red welt proved Sabian's crime. "Sabian, come in here right now!" Now Sabian would have been expecting the usual response from me in regards to his behaviour.
..
you know the one.
The lecture on how physical violence is unacceptable behaviour and how I'm going to take away a privilege.
But no.
Why do this when it never works? It doesn't stop the behaviour, it doesn't change anything.
It just makes Sabian more resentful towards Ash as he feels that Ash deserved to get hit, whipped, thumped, pinched, punched or hair pulled.
Grrr would be my usual response but it achieves nothing. "Ash, have you washed your feet today?" "Yes" "Oh well, they'll have to do. Sabian, lick your brother's feet.
" This snapped them both to attention. I continued.
.. "You hurt Ash so you need to lick his feet.
This is the consequence for your actions.
" I figured that Sabian had played dirty, so the punishment had to fit the crime.
They were both laughing, (Ash through his tears).
Sabian licked Ash's feet, which by the way, Ash was very happy to present.
I then asked.

"Do you feel better now, Ash?" "No" "Would you like Sabian to lick the other foot?" This brought more laughter.
And another lick.
It's amazing how some simple changes can make a difference to the degree of difficulty and frustration we experience when faced with life challenges. These challenges are just that- 'challenges'.
We sometimes label them as problems, difficulties, unfairness and being unlucky. But really? Is that why we face these challenges? Is it possible that challenges sometimes present merely to direct us to a better way of approaching a situation? If we stop long enough to realise that we keep experiencing the same challenges over and over and over, and ask why, we might realise something so simple but so profound.
It's not really about the.
.
. 'WHY does this keep happening to me?' It's about the 'WHY have I not changed the way I deal with the challenge?' Why do these same life challenges keep presenting? Is it possible that we just haven't learnt the lesson yet? I'd like to tell you that this solved the problem of my boys fighting. Of course not! But later in the evening when another incident occurred, I used this same method and it brought laughter again. They had just been enjoying the effects of a huge sparkler bomb and it was now burning on the ground.
I suggested they put it out by weeing on it.
This method of extinguishing a fire always appeals to boys.
While putting out the fire, Sabian realised a stream of pee was being directed his way.
Ash got another thumping.
Sabian ran inside.
I followed a minute later.
"Sabian have you washed your foot that Ash peed on?" "Yes.
" "Oh well it will have to do.
Ash has to lick your foot for peeing on you." This brought lots of laughter until I announced the next part of the punishment.
"Oh, and Sabian, you need to lick Ash's foot for thumping him and I'm pretty sure he hasn't washed his feet yet." Needless to say, they called a trues! I was talking to a friend recently about some challenges she was experiencing.
I had been hearing about the challenges for years.
Nothing had changed.
I simply said, 'So why do you keep dealing with the challenge the same way each time if nothing changes? If it didn't work the first time or the second time or every other time, then STOP! STOP doing the same thing over and over and expecting something to change.
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
" - Albert Einstein was a very wise man indeed.
I'm sure he would have enjoyed my unorthodox methods. My friend and I then discussed some strategies. Some of these were used that evening and my friend reported some shifts.
Many people will read this article and be saying 'I knew that'. A lot of what I have learnt and discovered through life challenges are simply logic.
But its so important to be reminded of what we already know or wish we had already known.
So next time the same challenge keeps presenting in our lives, it helps to stop and ask ourselves if we need to STOP! STOP repeating the same reaction to the challenge. If it didn't work up till now, it probably never will.
The challenge is in our thinking. A conscience decision to change my thinking has reminded me to dig up all those life lessons I have learnt and begin to put them back into action.
I personally have spent a lot of time up until now getting bogged down in seeing life challenges as problems.
Once I stopped reacting to them in the same ways over and over and over and getting the same results- ineffective ones- I finally moved into a different space.
"Why be you when you could be new?" (from the animated movie 'Robots') It's not so much about giving up being you to gain success in life.
It's about being a new improved version of yourself, drawing on already learnt life-lessons or new life lessons in the quest to find new ways of dealing with challenges and new ways of viewing those challenges.
I am looking at myself as a success story because I have finally learnt how to apply what I already knew to my life.
I have participated in two intensive self development programs.
They were both beneficial but I quickly forgot to keep applying what had been learnt. If you don't practice a skill regularly, you loose that skill to a degree.
My nephew who also participated in a self development forum, used a new skill on a bully.
He had been harassed by this bully for some time.
Every morning the bully would grab my nephew's school bag and throw it onto the road while waiting for the school bus to arrive.
Usually my nephew would get angry. After returning from Melbourne where he had participated in the program, he decided to stop reacting in the same way he always had and apply a new method he had learnt whist at the forum.
"Thank you for paying so much attention to me.
" That was all he said. The bully was shocked.
He didn't know how to react so he said nothing and never threw my nephew's bag again.
Instead they actually became friends. Funny how things can change so dramatically just by a simple adjustment in strategy. I am now committed to regularly reading and listening to positive material that assists in my new way of living.
I have seen the benefits in a short time. Some of these changes have been instantaneous.
.
.
CAUSE AND EFFECT.
I'm so glad it didn't take me having to lick someone's dirty feet to realise it.
As a result of this shift in my patterns of thoughts and actions, I feel happier. I feel optimistic and my children are definitely benefiting from these changes.
I am letting go of old ways that didn't work for me the first time, second time and every time after that. I am ready to finally reach my full potential.
I am giving up my resentment towards people who have hurt me as I have decided to take back my power.
I am finally in control of my own happiness. What about you? What areas in your life need to change so you can get off the merry-go-round, getting nowhere fast? Tash Majenta:)
I then asked.
.
.
"Do you feel better now, Ash?" "No" "Would you like Sabian to lick the other foot?" This brought more laughter.

How to Find Educational and Fun Games For Kids on the iPod
When it comes to games for kids, we all want what best for our kids.
However, we do not always know what that means. I want something that is educational and my kids want something that is fun.
Does that mean we can't get the same thing? Absolutely not! There are games that are both educational and fun.
Throw Tradition out the Window As a teacher, I have to get rid of my traditional views of education.
Education does not have to be boring.
Kids can learn from singing and dancing just as much if not better than they can learn from flash cards and rote memory.
The key to educational games is age and developmentally appropriate.
Guitar Hero is actually an educational game for those kids who need to learn the music scale and it is required in many states as part of fine arts. Not to mention, if you buy some of the classic song you have culturally appropriate learning too! Focus on Skills Sure you won't find a game that will teach you advanced chemistry but you can find an iPod app that will teach you different cooking recipes. If cooking isn't your thing maybe you can find an app for crocheting or knitting. There are plenty of applications that can help you learn a variety of different skills.
All you need to do is decide what you want to learn and then go online and search for it.
Make it more fun with a Timed Challenge When you are looking for fun educational games, look for those with a time limit.
Your average boring game adds a bit more excitement when there is a time limit. Adding is old hat but when you have to beat the clock, your adrenaline gets pumping and the game suddenly becomes more exciting.
The same goes for a racing challenge.
If you can find someone to race or a score to beat, then the game takes on completely new meaning. Otherwise, the game becomes boring drills you can do at home.
Keep it Simple The most important part to teaching your child anything is keeping it simple.
Math really is everywhere.
It is harder to find a game that isn't educational than it is to find a game that is educational. Granted there are games more educational than others.
However, as parents and teachers, we need to meet our children and students where they are and gradually lead them to the more educational side to living.
Do the educational games for kids have to be dull and boring? I don't think so and I certainly hope not! I do not want to live in a boring world and I do not want my kids to either.
However, we do not always know what that means. I want something that is educational and my kids want something that is fun.

5% of teen moms graduate fro college by age 30 (and only 40% graduate from high school) Children raised without a father are twice as likely to quit school and four ties as likely to need behavioral help Children of teen parents are thee times more likely to become teen parents themselves.
Perhaps it's time to open our eyes to the reality and the seriousness of this situation. As parents and adults, we can continue to support our teens, like many of the grandmothers on the show, but it's also time to get real about what's best for this new life.
Teens are quite simply not equipped to successfully parent without committed help from their parents.
That commitment should include not only financial help, but a commitment to ensuring these teens finish their education and make responsible parenting choices while living with their folks.
It also requires a commitment from their parents to hold them to adult behavior now that they have made the adult choice of becoming a parent.
This holds true for parents of boys as well -- just because a son may not be the primary caregiver, he is required to provide child support and be a father to his child.
Often, the hardest thing for teen parents and their parents is adhering to the rules that are set.
Teens will still desire to go out with their friends and have a lifestyle similar to their friends. However that is something that most parents of young child must give up, regardless of their age.
As parents, we should remember that providing a life through open adoption is always a loving choice.
It is not goodbye forever and for many teen mothers, especially those under 16 years old, this will be the best choice for the baby.
Choices with open adoption today allow the entire family to participate in choosing adoptive parents and communicating on a regular basis as the child grows up.
The gift of a stable life and family through adoption should not be ruled out for any pregnant teen. It gives the child an opportunity of a stable home with committed parents, while affording the teen a few more years to enjoy life, explore the world, and embark on parenthood when they are old enough to provide every opportunity desired for their child.

When people hear of an education in the psychological field, they often think of psychologists. However, such an education can be applied a number of different fields.
Even if the education is not intended for work related to the behavioral sciences, it is helpful for the advancement of any career.
A deeper understanding of human behavior is useful for many aspects of any job, and pursuing a Psychology masters online enables students to continue working while they are advancing their education.
Graduate programs for Psychology online are becoming more popular every day because students can attend school from any location. It is possible to work with those who are currently in the field, because a Psychology Masters degree can also be used for teaching.
Instructors have at least the Masters, but many have their PhD, as well.
Classes are affordable, and because they are often small, students receive the benefit of individualized instruction.
A Master of Arts in Psychology is a step toward a Doctorate, but it is also quite useful on its own.
Both practical applications and academic theories are deeply explored, and students will gain an intimate understanding of the field.
Those with this degree can apply what they learn to everything from a clinical career to forensics.
Those interested in clinical work will find many programs available. Students may choose to focus on family, children, or marriage counseling, gender and sexuality, neuroscience, and much more.
The clinical careers available are countless, and those with the proper degree can expect to earn a respectable income. Those who have become a Master in Psychology can also become involved in the criminal justice system. Forensic psychologists are part of a fast-growing sub-field that responds to a need for knowledgeable professionals.
Government work is often found with this type of degree. There are many careers in social services and rehabilitation that can be pursued. It is also possible to become a parole officer, a psychosocial specialist, or a vocational counselor.
Online universities that offer this degree are accredited, and funding is readily available.
One of the many attractive aspects of this type of schooling is that students can make schedules that fit their lifestyles.
Classes can be taken one at a time, or many at a time. Another benefit of distance learning is comfort; it is not necessary to drive through traffic and sit in a hard chair in a classroom. Instead, students can curl up with a cup of coffee and a textbook while in their comfortable home.

10 Reasons Teens Don't Wear Seat Belts (When They Aren't With You!)
Seat belts separate car crashes from fatal car crashes.
Statistics prove they save lives so why don't all teens wear them every time they get in the car? Here are the top 10 excuses teens use for why they don't wear their seat belts: 1. Forgot. Talking and texting with friends are distractions that can cause teens to forget to buckle their seat belts. The pressure of a parcel in their lap can make them feel as though they are belted. Buckling up needs to be a part of the start-up routine so they do it without thinking every time they get in the car.
2.
Not enough seat belts for everyone.
If 6 kids want to go and there are only 5 seat belts, they need another vehicle.
Unbelted passengers are a danger to everyone else in the car. If the car stops suddenly, unbelted passengers become pinballs that bounce around, smashing into everyone else.
They can die and kill someone else.
3.
Don't want to be beheaded! This is one of those ridiculous urban legends that someone made up and now people repeat as truth.
There have been extremely rare cases where cars have slammed into obstacles at such force that the bodies inside have been cut by their seat belts.
In those cases, the passengers could not possibly have survived the crash anyway. And they are extremely, extremely rare. Seat belts save lives.
Period.
4.
So they can escape if the car goes off the road into a river.
First - cars rarely go off the road into water.
Second - if this rare thing did happen - the seat belt would keep them in their seat so they didn't get knocked unconscious when the vehicle hit the water. At least, with the seat belt, they'd have a good chance of getting out alive.
5.
Just going down the block.
Life is unpredictable.
Most crashes happen close to home.
6.
Seat belt is uncomfortable.
Make sure they're wearing it properly so it's not across their neck.
Beyond that, it's worth a little discomfort to save your life.
7.
Nobody else wears one.
If other people in the car are unbelted, they need to either tell them to buckle-up or get out of the car.
Driving in a car with unbelted passengers is very dangerous.
8.
Don't want to wreck their clothes. Their clothes won't be ruined by a seat belt.
If it's that important to keep a special outfit crisp, they should change their clothes at the destination. 9. No seat belts in the back of the truck.
Nobody should ever be riding in the back of a truck. It's far too dangerous and illegal in most places. 10. They want to sleep.
It's dangerous to recline car seats too far, so they should stay fairly upright with their seat belts in place. (Face it - most teens could sleep through a tornado anyway.) There is no good excuse not to wear a seat belt.
Buckling up needs to be a habit everyone does without thinking.
Talk with your teen about all the possible excuses they might have and make sure they know that none of them is okay.

How to Parent With Attunement and Creativity
This article was challenging to put into words because parenting is not easily definable.
Once we accept that there are no "perfect parents" and we all are in a process of learning and discovery, we will grow alongside our children's development.
Tip 1).
Be Present with your Presence Parenting is messy and involves a continual process of being present.
Parenthood is an act of doing and a state of being.
Being present requires us to feel our own presence.
This takes courage as we navigate through the inner landscape of our strengths and shortcomings.
Those challenging parts of ourselves that are difficult to accept need our full attention like a crying infant or tantrumming toddler.
When we neglect or avoid doing the hard "internal" work on ourselves, areas in our home and family life suffer. If we avoid the chaos within ourselves, how can we tolerate our own child's chaos, struggles, and problems? Our children are astute creatures and experts at reading our non-verbal cues.
When we are suffering our children empathically know and sense it.
If we are not able to role model our own set of ways to peacefully problem-solve and use emotional intelligence, how will they feel safe enough to show us their pain? When we are not present within our daily lives it delivers the message to our children that we are not capable of being able to handle their struggles. State your feelings to your child and the reasons behind the emotion, no matter his or her age.
Empathy is learned. This doesn't mean you can emotionally burden your child or use your feelings to manipulate or victimize.
Your ability to name and express feelings safely is a powerful teaching lesson for your child.
Tip 2).
Do your Internal Homework Children are conditioned to complete and hand in their homework for a teacher to grade.
As parents, we must initiate completing our own internal homework including asking ourselves questions like: 1).
Would I want to be parented the way I parent my own child? 2).
What messages (spoken or unspoken) were sent to me from my childhood from my family of origin? For example, some adults I work with share that they felt neglected, not good enough, ignored, misunderstood, silenced, abused, controlled, manipulated, and isolated as children.
3).
How are the messages I learned from childhood shaping my role as a parent? 4).
Am I parenting my child the way I was parented? If so, was this a conscious or unconscious choice? Your responses will serve as a guide on your parenting journey. Tip 3). Envision yourself as your Child Parenting can be frustrating. Here is one activity to use for grounding your stress.
One powerful and effective drama therapy intervention I use involves "role-reversal.
" When we put our agendas aside and shift our perspective by thinking and feeling as our children, we gain a powerful amount of empathy and insight.
Imagining yourself as your child can provide you with specific answers about his or her worries, concerns, struggles, frustrations, needs, and wants.
It is then our job to tune into what makes our child tick to inform our decision-making as parents.
Instead of being influenced by outside forces such as your own parents, in-laws, neighbors, friends, and parenting books; when you imagine yourself as your child you will gain confidence in knowing what is needed to shape your child's development. Tip 4). Practice Mirroring in Movement and Sound to Create Attunement No matter what our child's age or stage of development he or she will alter negative behaviors, moods, and attitudes when we reflect his or her body language and speech. Consider times when we become highly in tune during conversations with people we value.
We begin to model their body language, repeat similar themes, words, and may laugh at the same time.
When our gestures, thoughts, and feelings are mirrored back to us, we feel validated.
Our children have a deep need to be validated and witnessed by us.
It's our responsibility to do so.
Tip 5). Develop a Practice of Action Our children are always in action, even when they're still.
When we develop a practice of action we allow moments to occur which bring our focus onto something outside of our child's behavior and ourselves.
Pass a ball, break out into song, get on the floor and play, turn the radio up, dance at home, read the book your teen is reading, play cards or your favorite board game. Even if your child's action is slight, such as tapping a fork on the table or looking outside, take their cues so you can follow through with a seamless response. This shows them you are listening, you understand them, and you care.
Tip 6).
Bring Creativity and Imagination to your Parenting Practice People nowadays are concerned with how they are perceived and going with the status quo.
When we go against the grain, we stand out and as a result may be rejected.
Children, no matter the age or stage of development are wired to think and behave outside of the box because of such intense levels of imagination and ability to express themselves.
Children may experience periods of feeling helpless and powerlessness. They can't make all decisions on their own or be fully independent. Our experiences of powerlessness and helplessness have a vital need to be expressed.
Our expression needs a safe place to land.
If this means blowing bubbles in your house, ripping paper up to get frustrations out, doing an impression of your child when he or she is mad, enrolling yourself as a clown or child or gathering leaves to create art; do it. Your children will smile and thank you because you gave them the gift of expression.
Tip 7).
Break out of your Patterns Children do thrive on routine, but they also need us to break out of ours in order to witness their needs and challenges.
In my ten years as a Drama Therapist, I have encountered parents who kept forcing their children to fit into squares when they were clearly circles.
This analogy is used to inform us that we need to break out of our patterns, ways of operating, behaving, and thinking to be attuned to our children.
Parenting is not about convenience.
It's about commitment to positively shaping their development.
If our pattern also matches our child's pattern of operating, then what we're doing is working.
If we are imposing our control on our child to meet our needs at the expense of our child, then we need to make some important changes and make them immediately.
Tip 7).
Imagine Fast-forwarding your Life: Picture your Children as Adults Children grow before our eyes and I know how challenging it is to accept our child's fast-paced development. If, for a moment you imagine your children as adults what kind of life do you envision them living? Do not imagine how you want them to live.
Base your child's imagined future on his or her strengths, skill set, personality and temperament.
How do you picture them as adults? Do they feel competent? Are they independent? Are they happy? The information you have now about your child will guide your ability to envision your child's potential future as an adult. If you have a strained relationship with your child now, how will that affect his or her future as an adult? You are laying the foundation for the house of your child's life.
Is your child's foundation built on quicksand or steady ground? Tip 8). Imagine your Daughter/Son wrote you a Letter If your child were to write you a letter about how he or she experiences you as a parent, what would it say? The thing is, you know the areas in the way you parent that need work; the parts that you may be ashamed of or feel out of control about. If your child wrote about your need for control, your shame, your fear, your anxiety and your rage how would it feel to have someone know your truth? What changes would you make as a parent now to work through your parenting challenges? Tip 9).
Imagine Your Child Becoming a Parent When your child becomes an adult, segueing into parenthood, what kind of parent will he or she become? Our children most likely will take on qualities of how we parented them, since our treatment toward our children is a learned behavior.
Yes, we as humans are imperfect beings.
Where can we make positive shifts in our own parenting choices to implement a strong framework for our children for when they have a family of their own? Tip 10).
Develop Adaptability and Accept Change One tip for parenting and for coping through life's struggles is developing an open approach to adapting and accepting change. Parenting, like childhood is about fluidity, flexibility, and change, which also mirror the ebb and flow of tidal waves. Practically speaking, this means that we may need to alter our behavior, approach, communication-style, actions, and life-choices.
When children enter our lives, they metaphorically hold a mirror up to ourselves and encourage us to change just like they transform as they grow. Tip 11). Take Your Child's Lead Children are born innocent, curious, and creative. When we accept that our children have equal rights as adults do you will notice positive shifts in your parenting approach. Be curious about life, people, experiences, textures, colors, problems, seasons etc.
Activate your sense of touch, sound, sight, taste, and smell.
When we jump into our child's world of imagination and curiosity, we heal our wounded child within and we strengthen our relationship with our child. The message here is take your child's lead.
Usually when we take our child's lead, moments transform and negative behavior and moods shift.
Once we accept that there are no "perfect parents" and we all are in a process of learning and discovery, we will grow alongside our children's development.

Online College Courses: The Perfect Option for Summer School
More and more college students today are taking full advantage of all of the opportunities available to them over the summer months.
Most colleges and universities have a natural two- to three-month break between the spring and fall semester. Some students will return to their hometown during these months to save money on living expenses and to enjoy more employment opportunities during these months.
Others will stay on or near the college campus and may be thinking about attending summer classes this year. Online college courses offer you a great opportunity to earn credit toward your degree, and you can take your online classes in any location.

Many students don't want to commit to taking summer school because they don't want to be tied to a certain location all summer long. When you take online college courses over the summer, you can earn the credit you need for your degree but can take your classes anywhere.
So if you want to spend half of your summer in your college town and half of your summer in your hometown, or if you want to travel around a bit over the summer, you can enjoy your plans and still earn college credit. If your current college or university doesn't offer online college courses, you can still enjoy the flexibility of online classes this summer.
There are so many different schools around the country that offer classes online. You simply need to find one that offers the classes you need, and then transfer the credit to your current school after you have completed the course.
Many courses are designed to be completed in about eight weeks, so you will have plenty of time take your summer classes online in between your spring and fall semesters.
This is the perfect option for earning the credit you need while also enjoying summer on your terms.

Kids Outdoor Clothing - A Guide
Kids love exploring the outside world.
They love playing in the mud and collecting things to examine and just about getting their hands on everything wondrous the world has to offer. As parents we should encourage this habit.
It is one of the processes through which kids learn and develop their intelligence.
While our children are exploring the world, as parents we usually worry about how to protect them from the elements. Here are a few simple rules to kid's outdoor clothing: 1.
Keep it simple and keep it right.
Many parents go for flashy or chic wear that do not completely cover their kids. Look for brands that offer protection, variety and style. 2.
Do not forget to put on sunscreen when your children are playing in the sun.
Young skin is most sensitive to the harmful UV rays.
Sunscreen should even be used during rainy and winter months.
Opt for a waterproof base one during these wet times. 3.
Make sure the waterproof trousers and jackets are of the right size and fit comfortably.
Children are prone to catch colds easily so they must be protected properly.
4.
For younger children, pull-on trousers are preferable to trousers with zippers on them.
Young children often cannot manage the zips and their delicate fingers can get caught in the zipper. 5. When the weather is colder, make sure the waterproof trousers and jackets have Velcro at the cuff and trouser ends.
If these are not available, make sure at the most they have elastic stitched bands at the cuffs and trouser legs for a tight comfortable fit.
6.
Proper shoes according to the activity should be worn.
Children have very soft feet and any pebble or sharp glass can cut easily. Sturdy shoes should be worn during the winter months, rain boots during the rainy season and sandals during the summer. 7. Never let your kids roam barefoot in unknown places.
You don't know what insects lurk in the grass or ground. 8. For babies and toddlers, a waterproof all-in-one suit with a hood might be preferable to a separate waterproof trouser and jacket. 9.
When buying Kids Outdoor Clothing, look for materials that are soft and light to wear but made from a tough material that will resist the pulls and tugs of child play.
10.
For younger children buy trousers that have elasticized foot stirrups stitched in them.
These go under the wellingtons and keep them from getting stuck when walking in muddy areas.
11.
If your kids aren't too young, take them shopping and let them decide what they want to wear.
Most parents know that what their kids have chosen is usually what they love to wear always.
12. Opt for waterproof clothes that can be washed in the washing machine.
These are not only convenient but are designed specially so that the washing machine can remove the grass and wet mud stains easily. 13. Make sure when buying waterproof suits that the seams are welded for complete protection. 14.
And lastly, look around at a variety of places before deciding what you want to buy.
There are many online stores as well that cater just for kids who love the outdoors and moms and dads that love them.

Cyber School Supplies Checklist
If you're looking at this post, then that most likely means you have made the switch to cyber school.
So what's next? Well, you don't need much for cyber school compared to public school.
You don't have to get a brand new binder, backpack, new clothes or tons of folders.
With that said, if you want to get those things be my guest! Here is a list of things I find important to have in cyber school: 1.
Computer 2. Scanner 3.
Printer 4.
Notebook 5. Graph Paper 6. Calculator 7. Pencil 8.
Flash drive Let's start out with number one. It's kind of a no brainier really, but it's important to get the right type of computer.
Make sure you have one that isn't very slow so you can get your work done on time. Also make sure you know how to use the features on it like Microsoft word or other programs that will be used often during the year.
For example if you are used to using PC computer and then you switch to a Mac you'll be very lost if you don't take some time to sit down, and figure out the differences.
Many schools will give the students a computer to use for schoolwork for free.
That is what I did.
The computer also came with a scanner/printer, and other accessories like a mouse. I don't always print things unless I need to study something offline or fill out a worksheet, and I can't figure out how to do that on the computer. I do however use the scanner all of the time! I mainly scan things for Math class because about every five lessons there are open-ended questions where you have to show your work.
A scanner comes in handy because if you tried to write out your work on the computer it will take about ten times longer than just doing the problem, and scanning it on.
The fourth thing you will probably need is a notebook.
I personally find it helpful to write down things, and sort out my thoughts, and it's helpful to have all of your problems and questions in one central location.
Next is graphing paper which I only use for Math class when there are graphing problems.
Mostly I do this because it makes my work neater for the teacher and me to try to read.
The calculator is another optional one. I have a nice scientific calculator that I like to use, but you can easily find one of Google that does all of the same things.
I just think it's nice to not have too many things up on your screen at once.
Less clutter= less stress.
Then there is a pencil/pen.
Basically what are you going to write with on your graphing and notebook paper? Finally is a flash drive.
It's pretty risky to always trust a computer to not break down or somehow lose that report you've been working on for the past three days. Also they are great if you want to work on another computer, and need to take a long some files.

How to Use Personal Computers Efficiently With No Eye and Body Strain
Most of us inevitably use computers for our daily work, at school or just playing games at home.
Spending too much time using the computer though can cause eye and body strain which can be very uncomfortable. Hence, it's important for you to adopt a healthy lifestyle along with the proper ways of using your PC. If you often experience eye strain, you may need to change your habits and strive to keep yourself healthy even while spending long hours in front of the computer. First, you should consider proper positioning.
Your posture contributes a lot to your body condition.
You may feel a lot of ache and pain in various spots of your body if you don't sit properly. Moreover, improper posture leads to back ache and neck ache as well.
To be able to sit well, select a comfortable and adjustable chair which provides support to your back curve.
You should be able to sit upright with relaxed shoulders.
Your elbows, hips, and knees should be angled at about 90 degrees and both your feet should be firm on the floor.
You can also place yourself on a foot rest comfortable for you.
Your forearms should also be parallel to the ground.
It's also important that you develop keyboard skills so that you won't need to bend your head often when searching for keys on the keyboard.
Your wrists should be in a relaxed posture when you use the mouse.
As for eye strain, this seems to be a commonality among most computer users.
Your eyesight may gradually become poor as you continue to use your computer for long hours daily.
To avoid eye strain, avoid looking at the screen at a very short distance.
An arm's length will do. The screen should be bright enough and if possible, you can put an anti-glare filter to avoid reflections which makes it more difficult to view the screen.
Additionally, it's very important to give your eyes a rest every once in a while. Spend about 10-15 minutes every hour resting your eyes by closing them or looking at anything green, especially plants, so that your eye muscles can be active. As what has been mentioned earlier, having regular breaks is very important.
While taking a break, you can stand up, do some stretching or basic exercise so that your neck, shoulder, wrist, and whole body can move actively. It's vital for your blood to get flowing in order to decrease the stress imposed on your joints and limbs.
Check yourself for any signs of too much stress or fatigue.
If you feel tired enough, it would be better to stop whatever you're doing, take a rest, and resume once you feel better.
Through these simple ways, you can feel much better while using your computer.

The Perfect Beds For Your Kids
Children of today's generation love and wish everything to be fun and exciting, just like those PSPs, computer games, gadgets that they get hooked on all the time.
The fun and excitement extend up to the furniture that they have in their bedrooms.
These should not only encourage them to stay in their bedroom but should also complement their lifestyle.
As parents, there is no need for you to worry anymore, with a lot of beds available nowadays, it is pretty sure that you will find something not you and your kids will love. Most manufacturers nowadays innovate beds that will not only serve as a relaxing place for kids to sleep on but a haven where they can play and enjoy all they want.

Today, beds that come in various shapes and sizes that can match almost any bed space and theme are the ones that get more and more popular. For infants, no other bed is safer for them than a crib, but to make them more functional, cribs today come with storage spaces under the mattress.
For those who want to still make use of the bed by the time their infants are already toddlers, there are already cribs that come with side rails that can be detached to suit the use of toddlers.
There are also toddler beds with side rails to keep them safe when sleeping.
The mattress that your kids used to have on their cribs can be utilized as a toddler bed too if you want to save on it.
But if your kids want to feel like they are already teens, there are also larger toddler beds available for them. The fun and exciting furniture for your kids start when they are already in their pre-school years because the market has a lot to offer and a wide range of options exists.
Some of these are bunk beds, trundle beds, captain beds or any other bed that makes them feel like prince or princesses.

10 Questions for Online High Schools
So you have decided to earn a high school diploma online. Good for you! However, choosing the right online high school is paramount in your being a successful student. Choose wrong and you may not graduate.
Choose well and you are on your way.
Below are ten questions that should be used as a jumping-off point in your school selection process.
Do you have a high school diploma track? Yes, there are schools that only provide courses, but do not offer the complete package. You will want to know which this particular school is. What is the size of the student population? It can be large and it can be small, but you will want to know how many students.
Why? Because you will also want to know how many teachers. Then do a division problem. Does each teacher have hundreds of students assigned? This could be a warning sign.
How long have you been an online school? While new schools can be innovative, there is much to be said for schools that have stood the test of time. In the online school world, that may be a school that has been offering courses for at least three years.
How many courses/credits do I need in order to graduate? Best to know this up-front.
The number of courses likely mirrors the number required at traditional public schools.
Could be a little less, but shouldn't be more.
How liberal is your credit transfer policy? If you have already been attending high school, you will want the school to accept all or almost all of your high school credits.
If a school says that they don't accept transfer credits or will only accept a very few, you will want to consider whether this is the right school for you.
It may still be a good choice in other areas, but you will want to know the answer to this question before you enroll.
Do many of your students get accepted into four-year colleges? This may not be a goal of yours right now, but you could change your mind.
Understanding now where a school's graduates end up can be helpful.
Some online schools will post a list of the colleges being attended by its graduates. This is helpful to you.
Do most students pass their courses? It would be nice if they would be willing to let you know their percentage of course completions.
The number should be neither too high or too low. Will I be assigned to a teacher? Some online schools run more on auto-pilot than others.
Do you want a teacher to support you? Choose a school where there is much teacher-student interaction. Do you not want a teacher? Choose a school where you are more on your own. How will I work with other students? Some schools factor in group work. Others don't. Decide which you like and choose based partly on this factor. What is your refund policy? If the school is not tuition-free, it's never a bad idea to know how you can get your money back if you change your mind. These questions at least get you started down this path. It is likely that these ten lead to ten more.
That's fine; effective research is key in making your selection.

Finding a Teen Tour for Your Kid
For many families the summer represents a time to spend time together as well as apart to experience new adventures.
Teen tours offer teenagers the opportunity to experience travel and culture with peers in a safe and fun environment.
And trips are typically organized by established touring companies, providing your child with a safe, supervised trip to many locations both abroad and domestic. Companies differ, of course, and the rustic appeal of an adventurous US teen tour whereby rock climbing, kayaking and high ropes are highlights, may not appeal to all teens.
If not, you may want to look into a European or South American tour.
Most companies mix a little adventure with travel and the level of travel can include 5 star hotel and resorts or the stay at the college dormitory.
How long are teen tours? This again will vary; however, 21 to 45 days is typical.
Compare Teen Tours and Companies There are a number of ways to begin the search for that perfect travel tour for your teen.
The most obvious one is by referral.
Ask other parents, teens, family members, friend or associates.
If you don't know anyone who has done this kind of summer program, then it's time to search online where there are a number of both directories and touring companies.
Directories provide a number of referrals and you search often by state and then view the different companies in your area.
Most touring companies have websites at this point, so buy getting leads from the directories you can then go directly to their site.

Finding the Best Baby Soft Soled Shoe or Slipper for Your Child's First Steps
As a parent you naturally want the best for your child.
When it comes to their health, safety and development most of us try to follow what pediatricians recommend.
In prior years it was a common practice to buy your babies sturdy, hard-soled shoes the moment they looked ready to start taking those first steps.
It was believed that these thick rubber soled shoes would help your baby learn to walk better. Today, pediatricians recommend just the opposite.
Doctors recommend that babies who are ready to start walking should either go barefoot or wear soft soled or very flexible shoes. Our walking patterns begin with our first steps. Babies learn to walk by gripping the ground with their toes and using their heels for stability. When learning to walk, babies' muscles develop better without the use of shoes.
Barefoot might not always be an option for your child when learning to walk.
If you have a lot of hard flooring in your house such as hard-wood, vinyl, or tile, the floor might become very cold during the winter.
In this case, you might want to consider a shoe or slipper for your baby in order to keep them warm. There are also other instances, such as walking outdoors, where shoes or slippers are used to protect your babies feet.
When buying shoes for a baby who is learning to walk, you will want to buy soft soled shoes or bootie that offers a bit of traction to prevent slips and falls. Usually baby shoes handmade of genuine leather such as authentic baby or infant moccasins, or a shoe with a think rubber sole that is very flexible is best.
Once your baby becomes an avid walker, he or she can graduate to a more durable and rigid shoe.
Finding the right shoe size is important for your child's foot development.
You do not want a shoe that is too big or too small.
