Great Christmas Gift Ideas For 8 Year Old Boys - Air Hogs Remote Control Helicopters

Are you on the hunt for that special Christmas gift idea for an 8 year old boy? Maybe it's your son, a nephew, a grandson or simply a friend of the family.
Well, one thing that fascinates boys of around this age and older is remote control gadgets and gizmos.
In fact it fascinates just as many grown ups too for that matter.

Here's a few ideas if you think a remote control toy would appeal to that special little guy. Air Hogs remote control helicopters and other toys are a great way to introduce youngish kids (8 and up) to RC toys.
Air Hogs toys are small but well made machines that are generally inexpensive. They seem to specialize in helicopters for the most part but they also make airplanes and motor vehicles.
In terms of aircraft, two that are popular are the model based on the A10 Warthog warplane. This is a pretty fearsome aircraft that still serves today as a ground attack plane.

The other popular model is the one based on the SR-71 blackbird spy plane.
This was, and probably still is, the fastest aircraft ever made.
It was so fast that apparently whenever (or if ever) surface to air missiles were fired at it, it simply outran them.
The Air Hogs version is known as the jet scream airplane. However, Airhogs are better known for making remote control helicopters.
The one that is set to be a hot seller this Christmas is thought to be the pocket copter.
This is a miniature copter that you can fit in it's carry case and take around with you.
You can then fly it around whenever you feel the urge.

Although this is a nice little copter at a great price, I prefer the battle helicopters.

These items are also remote control but they are made to battle each other.
They each have infrared light beams on the front and the aim of the game is to strike the opponent three times with the light beam.

When this happens the helicopter becomes disabled and spirals down to the ground. Another model is known as the Hawk Eye.
This might be a bit advanced for 8 years olds but older kids will love it.

As the name intimates, it is a surveillance copter. You can fly it and take video or still pictures as you fly around.

I can think of heaps of things you could do with this.
